Words of living, being and doing – from my family to yours
Jean Edelman: Great to be with you this week. This week I was going through my bookcase and I found something that’s kind of special and I didn’t really forget about it, but I haven’t looked at it in a long time and I wanted to share it with you.
I wrote a little book when I started becoming an aunt. My sister has three children, my other sister has two. And so I wanted to create a book for each one of them. And so I want to share that book with all of you because it’s kind of nice. These sayings and thoughts were put together to give my nieces and nephews some insights for their future. Let me share this little book with you. My words of wisdom to my nieces and nephews:
Always follow your heart. Always remember that your heart will never steer you wrong. Always tell the truth. Be sure to listen to your heart, for it always tells you the truth. Therefore, you can be truthful in your life. Love your parents. Know that your family, your aunts, your uncles, your cousins, your family will always be there to love and support you.
Keep your heart young. Find ways to bring joy and happiness and never stop doing it. Find a reason to smile every day. Find a reason to laugh.
Go above and beyond. March one step ahead of everyone else and always, always be proud of who you are.
Every day, find time to nourish your body and soul each day. Set aside some quiet time. Stretch and breathe. Eat good, clean, wholesome food and spend time outdoors with nature.
Have patience. Life does not always happen as fast as we would like it. Slow down and enjoy this journey. There’s so much to learn along the way. Always be helpful. Be kind to others. There are so many that have less than we do and always find time and ways to reach out and help our community.
And remember, be kind to animals.
Believe in angels; believe in powers that are greater than us. Know that there is power greater than all of us. And we can tap into that power any time, any day. Just sit quietly in prayer. And believe in our angels.
Love yourself, love the gifts that you’ve been given. There is freedom in believing in ourself. You’re a wonderful person. You’re unique, and you have gifts that no one else has. There’s freedom in being yourself. Love yourself. Never stop loving.
Never stop learning. There’s always something to learn. Every day in our life.
And those are just some words that I wanted to share with my nieces and nephews as they were growing up. And these are words that I wish to share with all of you. Have a wonderful week, everyone.
